Falcon wins multi-million pound prison contract

15th November 2005

Falcon, the UK's leading manufacturer of catering equipment based in Stirling, Scotland, has been awarded one of the UK's largest ever contracts to provide kitchen equipment for prisons in England and Wales.

The 5-year contract for the supply, installation and warranty of catering equipment is worth in excess of £5 million in the first year alone.  Falcon will manufacture and supply the majority of the prime cooking equipment, including the award winning Infinity fryer. Companies from within the Aga Foodservice Group will supply specialist equipment such as blast chillers from Williams and mixers from Mono.  The crucially important element of service and warranty will be carried out by AFE Serviceline.

Falcon will also provide added value to the contract, with product training and asset management being offered throughout the product life cycle.

According to Alan Tuckwood, Head of Prison Catering, one of the key reasons for choosing Falcon was the ability to deliver exactly what was promised. He says "The organisations we deal with need to demonstrate their capacity to fulfil my needs - not just pay lip service.  The equipment needs to work and manufacturers must show me that it will do so for the duration of its life."
