The Aga Shop Vale Farm showcased the best of local British foods, and launched their new Aga studio on the 28th and 29th of June. Aga Demonstrators Peter Hughes and Sue Eggleston created delicious Aga cooked treats – using seasonal ingredients from suppliers and producers in the area.
Over 300 guests attending the weekend long event. Peter Hughes cooked a ‘New England’ themed menu on Saturday – inspired by the beautiful Fired Earth Kitchen range of the same name. His dishes ranged from Gypsy schnitzel and Breakfast apple pie to Vermont style baked beans and Grandma’s onion cheese pie.
Sue Eggleston took control of creating Aga cooked treats on Sunday, satisfying the hungry crowd with a smooth chicken liver and brandy pate, white chocolate tart with fresh raspberries and a home-made, raspberry jam.
A varied list of local producers contributed to the successful event including:
• Garden Friends – suppliers of fresh vegetables grown exclusively in Bedfordshire.
• Yelnow Farm – Their in-store stall proved to be very popular, and their supply of fresh eggs greatly appreciated!
• Franklin’s of Thorncote – specialists in game and free-range poultry. Their sausages were delicious, and a great when accompanied with the sauces and dips from Darn Spices.
• Marston Vale Nursery supplied a selection of herbs, and samples of natural fruit syrups were on hand courtesy of Pink Syrups.
Samples of crisp wines and refreshing beer was made available thanks to:
• Warden Abbey Vineyard (Bedfordshire’s only vineyard!),
• Independent micro-brewery Concrete Cow, and Wells and Young’s (Bedford based brewers of Bombadier).
