Director-General of the CBI Digby Jones this morning visited Aga`s Coalbrookdale factory and the adjoining new Enginuity engineering museum. Both are part of the World Heritage site where Abraham Darby first smelted iron with coke in 1709 triggering the Industrial Revolution.
Aga in its 80th year remains energetic with new products now coming to market and with fuel flexibility and installation improvements continuing. Linking engineering to design excellence is a key feature of the Enginuity centre opened in August this year, where visitors to the highly interactive museum can discover the many aspects to engineering.
Digby Jones was able to launch Aga`s 80th birthday tour which will see Aga`s mobile showroom visit cities and town centres over the next 10 weeks.
Digby Jones said "I am delighted to be able to launch the Aga 80th birthday tour. In particular it is great to be doing so from a World Heritage site, where Agas are made. It is also fantastic to see Aga`s links with the Enginuity centre, which will attract aspiring engineers and designers, and help stimulate young people to enter a career in engineering and manufacturing".
